Mustang trekking
Overview
The Mustang trekking is a dive in to the living museum known as the Lost Kingdom of ancient Tibet which is found in Nepal in its antique civilization. The current Tibet is the improvised and mixed civilization of Buddhism, Chinese and ethnic Tibetans. The old Tibet was destroyed by Chinese invaders, low population and war with neighboring countries. The lost kingdom of Tibet found in Nepal was those Tibetan migrants who had migrated from Tibet to Nepal in search of safety and new home to live. The Himalayan regions of Nepal was safe and was not visible to outside world due to its remoteness, high altitude and difficult livelihood. Nepal was geographically remote region of world and policy of Nepal to secure its borders from foreigners since old ages has saved the current Mustang which is now called as “The Little Tibet”. The capital of the Lost kingdom or the Forbidden Kingdom is called the Lo Manthang which is related to ancient Kingdom of Lo dynasty of Tibet. The Lo Manthang is the capital of lost kingdom which is a semi-desert region lies on the Tibetan plateau between borders of Nepal and Tibet. Although there are also many traditional tribes of Tibetan migrants of Bon-Po sect found in regions of Mustang, Dolpo and Manang but all are scattered settlements of capital Lo Manthang which totally lies on Mustang. Mustang region is still untouched and unspoiled by modern day civilizations.
The Mustang region is resided on the downpour shadow of Dhaulagiri Himalayas home of Tibetan migrants who migrated from some thousands of years before the birth of Buddha. The Tibetan migrants are still living their thousands year old religion called Bon-Po Sect due to this region’s remoteness and lost visibility due to highest altitude downpour of Himalayas. This region was closed to outsiders till the year 2000 for preservation and protection until the recent day’s government of Nepal has opened this place for tourists. The Lo Manthang is the special antique city which is walled like china and ruled by a religious rules of ancient Lo dynasty of Tibet. The region is dominated by Dhaulagiri Himalayas and other 35 Himalayas of 6000 meters elevation. Mustang region is the living museum of the lost city of Tibet which is a fascinating medieval Himalayan Kingdom.
Day 01: Meet and greet at airport, transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Get permits, trip preparation or visit ancient old temples in Kathmandu.
Day 03: Fly or drive to Pokhara. Pokhara sightseeing if you take flight
Day 04: Fly to Jomsom (8921ft. 2720m) and trek to Kagbeni (9216ft. 2810m).
Day 05: Trek to Chele (10004ft. 3050m) via Tangbe/Chhusang for lunch.
Day 06: Trek to Gilling (11709ft. 3570m). Explore monasteries and village.
Day 07: Trek to Ghami (3,460m/11,352ft). Explore monasteries and village.
Day 08: Trek to Charanag (11677ft. 3560m). Explore monasteries and village.
Day 09: Trek to Lo Manthang (12,238ft. 3,730m). Visit monasteries, king´s palace and museum.
Day 10: Excursion Choser village, back to Lo Manthang after vising monasteries and caves.
Day 11: Trek to Ghargompa, Visit the monastery.
Day 12: Trek to Chele (10004ft. 3050m)
Day 13: Trek to Kagbeni (9216ft. 2810m).
Day 14: Trek to Jomsom
Day 15: Fly back to Pokhara and sightseeing around Lakeside.
Day 16: Drive to Kathmandu by tourist bus at 7:30am and transfer to hotel.
