The science has claimed that the fire of Jwala Mai sanctuary as natural gas found in that district. The locale of Muktinath is popular for its traditional settlements of Thakali residents who are the primitive tribe of this district living there since hundreds of years. One of the traditional neighborhood settlements of Muktinath region is known as Marfa which is the capital of Thakali Tribe living in this area.
