Boudhanath tour
Overview
Boudhanath is one of the most holiest Buddhist destination of Nepal. It is one of the largest spherical dome of Nepal and also one of the largest in the world. It is listed by UNESCO as the world heritage site in 1979 A.D. It is located at about 11 kms from the center and north eastern outskirts of Kathmandu.
Boudhanath stupa is on the traditional trade route from Tibet which was used to enter the Kathmandu valley through the Sankhu Village on the north east corner of Kathmandu. From there the route extends via small stupas on the way. The Tibetan merchants who used to come to Kathmandu for trade used to offer prayers in this stupa for many centuries and when refugees from Tibet entered Kathmandu, a big bunch resided around Boudhanath. This stupa is also said to entomb the remains of Kassapa Buddha.
