Overview

Mount Annapurna is the 10th highest peak of the world with the height of 8091meters and 55km long massif range containing 13peaks of 7000meters and 16peaks of 6000meters in that massif range. Beside the main Annapurna peak there are more than 25 peaks in Annapurna massif that make the panoramic view of Annapurna Himalayas is so magnificent and full of mountains. The main peaks of Annapurna Massif are Annapurna I of 8091m, Annapurna II of 7937m, Annapurna III of 7555m, Annapurna IV of 7525m, Gangapurna of 7455m, and Annapurna South of 7219m. The Annapurna Massif is a government protected region under the name of Annapurna Conservation Area Project covering the area of 7,629 km. The word Annapurna is derived from Sanskrit Language which is a name of a Goddess of incarnation of Goddess Durga giving the meaning as fruitfulness and productivity. Goddess Annapurna is one of the most anticipated and worshipped goddess of Hindu mythology. Annapurna Massif is near to Dhaulagiri Massif which is located 20km away separated by Kali Gandaki River in the middle. The Annapurna Conservation Zone is region related to various world class trekking destination like Annapurna Circuit trekking, Annapurna Base Camp trekking, Annapurna Sanctuary trekking, Mustang Trekking, Muktinath Trekking, Manang Trekking, Dolpo Trekking, Thronog La Pass Trekking, Ghorepani-Poonhill Trekking, Tatopani Trekking e.t.c. The Annapurna Massif is bounded by Kali Gandaki River on western side, Marshyangdi River on north and eastern side and Pokhara Valley on the Southern side. The Annapurna Sanctuary is resided on the western side of Annapurna Massif enclosed in a basin like geographical structure.

Mount Annapurna is the technical mountain requiring training on rock climbing and ice climbing along with mountaineering training. The Mount Annapuran was first ascended on year 1950 by Maurice Herzog from the Northwest Ridge. The travelers land on Lake city of Pokhara from Kathmandu city in the initial phase of their expedition. The travelers then start following the trekking trail going towards Annapurna Base Camp beginning from the Nayapul of Pokhara. The travelers traverses through farming lands, beautiful forests of rhododendron and magnolia, traditional villages dominated by beautitul views of mountains of Annapurna Himalayas.
