Makalu trek
Overview
Makalu Trek is a trekking adventure going to the Mount Makalu region of Nepal which is one of the untouched and unspoiled region from modern day civilization. The Mount Makalu is the fifth highest mountain of the world with the proud height of 8483meters. The Makalu region is an independent region which can be reach by a 30 minutes airplane ride from Biratnagar to Tumlingtar Airport. The Tumlingtar region lies in the Sankhuwasabha District of Eastern Nepal and is the one of the deepest valley of Nepal. The travelers after landing at Tumlingtar go towards the Makalu-Barun National Park traversing through Makalu Barun Buffer Zone, farming lands, forests of rhododendron and magnolia, traditional villages, lush mountains and valleys. The Mount Kanchenjunga lies in the eastern side of Mount Makalu while Mount Everest lies on the Western side. The Makalu region is a village development committee with the population of more than 36000 people of various ethnicity like Brahmin, chhetri, Rai, Limbu, Gurung, yakkha, Lohorung, kulung, and other ethnic tribes of Nepal.
The Makalu region is incorporate of Makalu VDC and Makalu Barun National Park. The Makalu Barun National Park is the 8th national park of Himalayan Region of Nepal with the area of 1500km covering two districts of Nepal known as Solukhumbu District and Sankhuwasabha District. The Makalu Barun National Park has the forests and natural vegetation to the altitude of 8000 meters which Is the one of kind in the whole world. The Makalu Barun National Park is the home to all floral and faunal species like deer, red panda, monkeys, butterflies, snow panther, Himalayan wolf, leopard, red fox, musk deer, Himalayan serow and others. The travelers will encounter a wonderful region called YangleKharka uses as yak pasture dominated by beautiful nature and a waterfall along with beautiful views of Mount Yupa and ChamlingHimal towards the Tibetan borders. The travelers can further travel up to Makalu Base Camp traversing through Shershong Village. The travelers can also visit the Swiss Base Camp traversing through banks of Barun River. In the end of the travel adventure the travelers return to Tumlingtar Airport to return back home to Biratnagar Airport and finally to Kathmandu Airport.
