Overview
Mount Makalu is one of the beautiful Himalaya of Everest region located 12miles away on the south-eastern side of Mount Everest on the borders of China and Nepal. Makalu is the fifth highest mountain of the world with the proud height of 8485 meters. There are two assorted peaks of Mount Makalu beside main peak among them is Kangchungtse of 7678 meters which also called as Makalu-II residing 3 km away from the main peak and Chomolonzo of 7804meters residing 5km away from the main peak. Mount Makalu is one of the hardest climbing mountains around the world due to snow glaciers, steep pitches, sharp edged ridges, rough rocky foundations requiring technical knowledge and experience on rock and ice climbing.
There had been 206 successful ascending expedition of Mount Makalu and 22 unsuccessful ascending expedition due to bad weather. The Mount Makalu is a government protected region under the name of Makalu-Barun National Park. The Makalu-Barun National Park is of 2330 square kilometers region of beautiful nature, lush forests, mountains, flora and fauna, and traditional village settlements. The main route of climbing the Mount Makalu is through the South east face beside that the are other routes like north west ridge, south east ridge e.t.c. The travelers reach Makalu region by landing on Tumlingtar airport from Biratnagar. The travelers passing through various traditional villages enters the Makalu Barun National Park. The travelers reach the Makalu Base Camp located at high hill pasture and start their climbing expedition.
Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu, transfer to hotel. Overnight at Kathmandu
Day 02: After breakfast, Mt.Makalu expedition briefing and officially arrangement. Overnight at Kathmandu
Day 03: After breakfast, shopping or renting climbing equipments and prepare for Mt.Makalu expedition. Overnight at Kathmandu
Day 04: Fly to Tumlingtar. Trek to Khadbari (1040m). Overnight in lodge
Day 05: Bhotebas (1730m). Overnight lodge / camp.
Day 06: Chichiara. Overnight lodge / camp.
Day 07: Num. Overnight in lodge / camp.
Day 08: Kuwapani (1560m). Overnight lodge / camp.
Day 09-10: Tashi Goan (2100m).Rest day for acclimatization and change porters.
Day 11: Kauma (3760m). Overnight in camp.
Day 12: Dobato (3700m). Overnight in camp.
Day 13: Nebe Kharka (4320m).. Overnight in camp.
Day 14: Sherson (4630m). Overnight in camp.
Day 15: Makalu base camp.
Day 16: Higher camp.
Day 17-49: Climbing Period Mt. Makalu.
Day 50: Cleaning up Base Camp.
Day 51: Yak Kharka.
Day 52: Mumbuk. Overnight in lodge.
Day 53: Tashi Goan. Overnight in lodge.
Day 54: Nun. Overnight in lodge.
Day 55: Chichira. Overnight in lodge.
Day 56: Khandbari. Overnight in lodge.
Day 57: Tumlingtar and fly back to Kathmandu.
Day 58: After breakfast, our tour guide will take to for historical monuments sightseing in kathmandu valley such as Bhaktapur, Pasupatinath, Boudhhanath, Kathmandu durbar square and Monkey temple(swyambhunath) and in the evening farewell dinner in Restaurant, overnight at Kathmandu in Hotel.
Day 59: After breakfast, Relaxing/shopping with own activities ,Himalayan Sports Treks & Expedition’s representative will drop to Kathmandu international airport for onward destination
